Tim Hayes as a childTim Hayes was born and raised in New York City. Pursuing a career in Psychiatry, Hayes graduated from the University of Vermont in 1967 with a degree in Psychology. Not having the grades for medical school Hayes began a 35-year career in his second love, the film industry. Over the years Hayes worked in both movies and TV commercials; producing, directing, writing, owning, and running film production companies.

Tim Hayes - TV Commercial DirectorFascinated with human psychology and its impact on all relationships, Hayes simultaneously stayed active during these years as both a teacher and a student in the field of personal growth and self-actualization (See below).

In 1992 Hayes was introduced by mutual friends to the Joseph Black & Son Cattle Ranching family of Bruneau Idaho. Brothers Jay and Chris Black had never met anyone from New York City and were genuinely interested in learning about Hayes' world as well as the excitement and mysteries of his life in the big city. To his surprise they offered Hayes an open invitation to stay on the ranch and learn how to work as a cowboy.

Hayes spent the next three years learning the crafts of riding, roping, branding, cutting, cattle work and the historic western culture of working for an American Cattle Ranch. Uncovering a deep passion for horses, Hayes began a journey in 1995 that led him all over the West to work and learn from the worlds most respected master horseman and teachers of Natural Horsemanship (See below).

Tim Hayes, Natural Horseman

Hayes became adept at communicating with and understanding the nature of horses. Putting on demonstrations back in New York he began getting inquiries from local horse people. Hayes began to pass on the concepts, principals and methodology, which his teachers had taught him. The more he taught he began to see an amazing connection between the way horses and humans approach life and relationships. Using his extensive background in human psychology Hayes created a program of Natural Horsemanship, which has set him apart in the ever-expanding world of gifted clinicians.

"Being and interacting with your horse is also a fascinating, enlightening and empowering technique for learning about yourself. It immediately reveals your truest nature. Horses are amazing mirrors for humans because in many ways they are very much like us. And just like human relationships, the only way to get your partner (human or horse) to change, is to change yourself. - BE A BETTER HUMAN...BE A BETTER HORSE.®"

Tim Hayes teaching at Chelsea Equestrian CenterIn 1997 while continuing to operate Timothy Hayes & Company Inc. one of TV Commercial Director's top international management firms, Hayes was asked to become a permanent instructor at the opening of New York City's prestigious Chelsea Equestrian Center. For the next four years, three evenings a week, Hayes conducted classes and seminars in Natural Horsemanship.

Tim Hayes - Deep Hollow RanchFor the past 12 years Hayes has also worked as a volunteer Natural Horsemanship Instructor and Trail Guide for Deep Hollow Ranch of Montauk New York. Settled in 1658, it is the oldest cattle ranch in the U.S.A.

Periodically Hayes has done volunteer work for the United States Bureau of Land Management in their Wild Horse Program, which aids in the preservation of the American Wild Horse.

In 2003 Hayes closed his NYC TV Commercial Company and moved permanently to the east end of Long Island, NY. There he opened Hayes Is For Horses Inc. and became a full time teacher and Natural Horsemanship Clinician. Today Hayes conducts Horsemanship Clinics, Classes, Lectures and Private Sessions in Natural Horsemanship for English and Western riders of all levels and disciplines in the USA.

Tim Hayes on horse Long Island

"Create a relationship with your horse by communicating in the horse's natural language. Understand and communicate with the horse physically, mentally and emotionally. Establish yourself as his leader by communicating with him naturally on the ground before you get on his back. Then ride together in harmony in any saddle you want."
