About Tim

Tim Hayes holds a BA in Psychology from The University of Vermont and is an Adjunct Professor of Equine Therapy and Natural Horsemanship at The University of Vermont, and Vermont State University.

Until his retirement in 2024 Hayes was also an internationally recognized clinician, conducting clinics in natural horsemanship, equine-assisted therapy, and self-discovery. Beginning in 2025, Hayes now offers Virtual/Zoom Book Talks focusing on Horse/Human Relationships. He is also a contributing expert consultant and columnist for EQUUS MagazineHorse Network, and The Huffington Post.

Tim lives with his wife Stephanie and their horses in Johnson, Vermont. Stephanie Hayes has been a professional in the horse industry for over two decades as a Natural Horsemanship Clinician, Trainer and Competitor. In 2017 she attended her first Working Equitation (WE) Clinic and was inspired to incorporate the training benefits of WE into her programs.

Stephanie co-founded New England Working Equitation, Inc. (NEWE) and conducts clinics year-round throughout the U.S and Canada. She is a USA Working Equitation (USAWE) Professional Instructor, "L" judge and serves on the USAWE Executive Committee.

She has been a presenter of Working Equitation at Equine Affaire and has been awarded National and Regional Championships on several of her own and clients’ horses. Stephanie is also the founder of The Center for America’s First Horse, a non-profit organization focused on the breed preservation and promotion of the rare Spanish Barbs.
